Overview

Applications are invited Online only through One Time Registration from qualified candidates belonging to the reservation group of Viswakarma community of Kerala State for appointment in the post of  Assistant Professor in General Surgery Medical Education department.

🏢 Vacancy Details

Viswakarma - 1 (One). The above vacancy is now in existence. The NCA Ranked list published in pursuance to this notification will be valid until candidates are advised and appointed against the above vacancy earmarked for the above mentioned community, but remains unfilled and also against vacancies that may arise due to the paucity of candidates during the currency of the Ranked List published for the post of Assistant Professor in General Surgery on 05.09.2024 (Cat No. 345/2023, Gazette dated 16.10.2023)

🎓 Qualification & Equivalency

  1.  MS / DNB in General Surgery.
  2.  One Year Experience as Senior Resident in General Surgery in a recognized Medical College after obtaining Post Graduate Degree.
Note:
a. The Experience gained by a Tutor in a medical institution in the concerned subject having a Post Graduate Degree, shall be considered equivalent to the Experience required as a Senior Resident.
b. The Experience gained by a Demonstrator in a medical institution in the concerned subject having a MSc and Ph.D Degree, shall be considered equivalent to the Experience required as a Senior Resident
c. Specialist Medical Officers of the Armed Forces having at least One year Teaching Experience or two years of Clinical Experience after obtaining Post Graduate Degree in the concerned subject 
OR
d. A non-teaching Consultant or Specialist or Medical Officer, possessing Post Graduate Medical Degree in the concerned subject with atleast 2 Years of Experience in a Government Hospital having at least 220 beds shall be eligible to become an Assistant Professor in the concerned subject without the requirement of experience as Senior Resident and shall complete the Basic Course in Biomedical Research within two years of appointment.
OR
e. Diploma holders appointed as Senior Residents in a recognised Medical institution before 08.06.2017 having total experience of 4 Years as Senior resident in the concerned subject.
OR
f. Diploma holders working as Specialist or Medical Officer in the concerned subject of a government Medical Institution or Government Medical Institution running National Board of Examination and Medical Science recognised teaching programme having cumulative experience of 6 Years.

3. Permanent Registration under Kerala State Medical Council (TCMC) / Council for Modern Medicine.
Note:- Qualifications are as per NMC Regulations 2025, Medical Institutions (Qualification of faculty) Regulations, 2025 dtd 30.06.2025

Note:
(a) Rule 10(a) ii of Part II of KS & SSR is applicable.

(b) In addition to the qualifications prescribed in this notification, the qualifications recognized by executive orders, or standing orders of Government as equivalent to a qualification specified for a post, in the Special Rules and such of those qualifications which pre-suppose the acquisition of the lower qualification prescribed for the post, shall also be sufficient for the post. The copy of the Government orders declaring equivalent/higher qualifications shall be produced as and when required by the Commission.

(c) Those who are appointed in the post should serve for four (4) years during the first ten (10) years of their service (including the period of training) anywhere in India or any other foreign country under Defence Services connected with Defence, if required. Differently abled candidates and those who have completed 45 years of age are exempted from the above compulsory Military Service.

🎂 Age Limit & Relaxations

  • 22 - 50, Only candidates born between 02.01.1976 and 01.01.2004 (both dates included) are eligible to apply for the Post. (including the age relaxation in para 2(i) of the General Conditions)

  3. Apply for the Post: After successfully logging in to your Kerala PSC Thulasi login profile, click on the 'Apply Now' button against the respective Category Number in the notification list.
  4. Submit Application: Verify your details, upload any required documents/photos as per the general conditions, and submit the application.
  5. Print/Save: Take a printout or save the application summary for your future reference.
